Support and resources for new teachers from the IOP | New teacher sessions

The Royal Society of Chemistry is hosting a series of five online events. This initiative is a collaboration with Science and Plants for Schools (SAPS), the Institute of Physics (IOP), and CLEAPSS. The sessions are designed to support new teachers on their journey in science education. While the primary target audience is teachers with less than five years of experience, those seeking a refresher on available support are also welcome. Teachers have the flexibility to book all sessions in the series or only those that meet their specific needs.

This session lasts an hour and will provide an overview of the support and resources that the IOP offer. There will also be time for questions.

This is a fully funded event aimed at secondary science teachers in their first 5 years of teaching.

Session outcomes

By the end of the session, you will:

Understand the role of the IOP
Know how the IOP can support non-specialist physics teachers
Know where to find support and resources for practical Science education
know where to find resources for physics teaching in terms of equity, inclusion, diversity.

Session information

This session will give you a brief introduction to the Institute of Physics and their mission to engage more people with physics. Conscious that all science teachers will need to teach some physics at some point, the IOP will take a tour around some of the many free resources and training opportunities they have to offer.
