Save the Children SA is inspiring parents and kids to discover the magic of reading and the love of learning together.
Pretoria, South Africa (11 September 2024) – As a child, reading can provide a magical experience by introducing you to different characters and the funny, strange, and eye-opening things they get up to. It invites you into their fictional world, leaving you eagerly turning each page with curiosity.
This Literacy Month, Save the Children SA is calling on all parents to play their part in developing their children’s reading skills.
According to the organisation, parents who are actively involved in their children’s education perform better and develop stronger thinking skills.
“This September, as part of Literacy Month, we at Save the Children South Africa are encouraging families to make reading a priority!
“Reading with your children and helping them comprehend stories isn’t just about learning words, it’s about building lifelong skills and a brighter future,” Save the Children advises.
So, come on mom, dad (and even you aunty, uncle and granny) take time to share the reading experience with the children in your life.
